Winter pastimes

A beautiful early March day in Canada, add a multi purpose collection of frozen water molecules, strap on some thin steel blades to the feet of children of all ages and just like that you have an exciting ice skating party. This all came together Sunday at Market Square in Guelph, ON. The little patch of ice (a delightful wading pool complete with fountains in the summer) is so well used in the winter that it requires it's own Zamboni, yes a drive-on Zamboni! . No outdoor shed with a collection of shovels and garden hose for this group.

On my way to brunch I couldn't help but stop and take in the lovely scene. Boys and girls of all ages, moms, dads, grandparents all patiently waiting for the Zamboni to lay down a fresh sheet of pristine ice for more slippery frozen fun.
